Bill Eckert, CAP®
Bill Eckert is a financial educator, speaker, and senior financial advisor at Renaissance Financial Corporation who specializes in working with high-net-worth families with their philanthropic giving, tax management and intergenerational wealth transfer. Bill is an expert on showing families how they can truly make a philanthropic impact in their communities through their giving.
Bill is among a small group of individuals worldwide who is a Chartered Advisor in Philanthropy. This means that he has received training that provides him with an in-depth knowledge of the entire philanthropic planning process, this includes, but is not limited to, estate and trust documents, taxation, accounting, insurance, and investment tools to help clients articulate and advance their highest aspirations for self, family, and society.
Bill works with clients owning highly appreciated assets, such as real estate and farmland, and aids them in strategies that can help offset capital gains tax or depreciation recapture upon their sale. Through the use of various charitable trusts, Bill helps these clients potentially create more efficient streams of income from the asset, which then pass to the family and/or charity involved.
Professionally, Bill is a member of Advisors in Philanthropy and the Partnership for Philanthropic Planning. He has also served as a board member and membership chair for the Mid-America Charitable Gift Planners. Bill is active in his church community and he is a member of the Planned Giving Advisory Council for the Archdiocese of Kansas City, Kansas. Bill is also the Instructor of Philanthropy at the University of Kansas OSHER Institute and is a member of the University of Kansas Veteran’s Alumni Network, as well as a member of the American Heart Association’s Professional Advisor Network.
Bill is an avid hunter and shares his passion of hunting with veterans as a way of honoring them for their service and sacrifices. To accomplish this, Bill started a non-profit organization called KAMO Adventures, which takes veterans to a Missouri farm for turkey and deer hunting and to a lake for fishing. KAMO is a 100% volunteer-run organization whose purpose is to provide a safe, supportive and friendly hunting experience where veterans assist one another in the healing process, both mentally and physically. The outdoor experience is uniquely tailored to each veteran’s specific needs, abilities, and injuries. KAMO Adventures is also honored to offer scholarships to veterans at the University of Missouri-Kansas City and the University of Kansas. Find out more about KAMO Adventures by going to the website at www.kamoadventures.com.
Bill lives with his wife, Shanthi, in Leawood, Kansas, and they have four grown children who also live in Kansas City.
